Malaga Airport to change it's name to Malaga Airport Costa del Sol

The Official State Bulletin (BOE) which was published yesterday, gave information on the change of the official name ‘Malaga Airport’ to ‘Malaga Airport Costa del Sol‘ from now on.
Malaga airportThe idea started over a year ago with the Association of Hoteliers in the Costa del Sol (Aehcos), who viewed the change of name as being a great enhancement in the promotion of this area to tourists. The new name links the Costa del Sol, which is internationally recognized, with the first class infrastructure of Malaga airport, which is also highly appreciated.

The airport will also change the AGP code (as the airport is known) into SOL (SUN). In this regard, the airport codes are decided by the international organization for air transport - International Air Transport Association (IATA). This is a three letter code designating each airport in the world. In the case of SOL the proposal is feasible as it is not being registered for any other terminal.
Malaga is a very modern airport; in fact, last year opened the T3, which was a vast improvement on the quality of facilities available to travellers.
